Clinical Peels

Professional Treatment Options

PCA SKIN® professional treatments are scientifically formulated to gently stimulate, firm and tighten skin. Nearly 20 years ago, we originated our light to medium depth peels for use by physicians and highly trained skin care professionals to help you reach your skin care goals.

Clinically researched formulations help reduce the depth of surface lines, smooth rough skin texture, treat skin discoloration and redness, and assist in clearing acne/blemished skin without the downtime often associated with chemical peels.

Gentle ingredients such as naturally occurring alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), trichloroacetic acid CFCA), salicylic acid, resorcinol, retinol, antioxidants, polyphenols and skin brighteners are carefully blended and work synergistically to remove dull, damaged surface layers and reveal your smooth, radiant, glowing skin that is hidden below the surface.

These progressive in-office treatments complement PCA SKIN daily care products to speed the process toward visible, proven results. Ask your doctor or skin care professional for the perfect combination of PCA SKIN professional treatments and daily care products to target conditions at the cellular level and dramatically improve skin health for a more beautiful complexion.

Frequently Asked Questions

My skin is very oily. Do I need a moisturizer?
Yes, even those with oily skin need a daytime moisturizer with a minimum of SPF 15 and a non-oily nighttime moisturizer. A deficiency of moisture will typically lead to an overproduction of oil which would worsen your condition.

I have blemish-prone skin. Should I purchase an "oil-free" hydrator to avoid clogged pores and pimples?
Certain oils like those extracted from tea tree, marigold, grapefruit and borage are very beneficial in clearing breakouts and do not have the heavy feel of some oils. Using a hydrator with beneficial oils will not clog pores and can decrease redness, swelling, bacteria, and blemishes.

I thought that retinol was only available by prescription and made you flake and peel?
Retinoic acid - a form of vitamin A - is available by prescription only and although effective can cause irritation on some skin. Retinol is another form of vitamin A that is converted into retinoic acid in the skin making it a gentler alternative for daily use. Retinol only causes flaking when used at high percentages. Well formulated daily use retinol products won't make you peel and can induce amazing changes in the skin.

Is it necessary to apply a sunscreen product if I do not plan on being outdoors during peak sun hours?
Yes, sun protection should be a part of a daily regimen for all skin types and conditions. Both UVA and UVB rays are known causes of skin cancer and although UVB rays may be more prominent during the peak sun hours, UVA rays remain constant throughout the day, and penetrate glass and most clothing.

At what age is it recommended to introduce daily skin care products?
Adolescence is a great time to begin a daily skin care regimen. The introduction of a gentle cleanser, sunscreen moisturizer, and nighttime hydrator will assist in maintaining healthy skin, preventing the onset of certain skin conditions and helping to form beneficial habits such as daily SPF application.

I am prone to breakouts. Should I wash my face multiple times throughout the day?
Cleansing the skin more than twice daily and/or using harsh soaps can strip the skin of its natural oils, causing it to produce more oil and increase the occurrence of breakouts. Patients prone to blemishes should wash with a non-soap cleanser twice daily followed with an antibacterial matte finish hydrator day and night.

I have started to develop acne as I get older. Should I use the same products to treat the breakouts that a teenager would use?
Acne is becoming a more common skin challenge in adults, and is often caused by hormone fluctuations, menopause, and/or stress, especially in women. As skin ages, oil production slows. Therefore, it is critical to choose products to address adult acne that are not too drying. Acne varies among age groups and should be treated accordingly.

Are there products and treatments that can be used to lighten freckles?
Freckles that have been present since early childhood are part of your genetics. While chemical peels and daily care products will help correct freckling from sun damage, freckles that are part of your hereditary background will always resurface.
